The Navy Records Society publishes original documents on the Royal Navy, providing a valuable source for serving officers, scholars and all those interested in British naval history and the development of naval power generally.

Over the past 100 years the Society's publications have included more than 150 volumes of documents, many of them rare or hard to find. These volumes range from the fourteenth century up to the Second World War and beyond.  The  volumes are edited by experts in their field and are presented with a scholarly introduction. Abstracts for the volumes can be found on this website.

Membership of the Society is open to anyone interested in the history of the Royal Navy, in the UK and anywhere in the world. Membership costs £40 annually and more details can be found on the relevant part of the website. Membership benefits include access to digitised volumes of the majority of the Society's publications.

The NRS, which has charitable status, receives no grants or public money, but continues to flourish through the dedicated support of an international membership.
